The aim of this paper is to consider the relations between Hegelian conception recognition, which championed by Axel Honneth and others, second-personal authority put forward Stephen Darwall. It argued that despite appearances contrary, they are not be as easily aligned some might suspect or hope, in particular an individual can granted recognition sense, without being authority.
